HAZEL LANE Mrs. Hazel I. Lane, 79, of Beaverton, died Sunday in Bay City after a short illness. Mrs. Lane was born in Paulding County, Ohio, on Sept. 12, 1887, and had lived in Gladwin County 67 years. She was a former owner of the Beaverton Hotel and was a member of the Beaverton Order of Eastern Star. The former Hazel Russell, she was married to Willis Lane on April 19, 1907, in Beaverton. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1951. A son, Robert, died in June 1963. Surviving are two sons, Gilbert of Beaverton and Russell of Bay City; five sisters, Mrs. Ruth Pfister, California, Mrs. Ethel Johnson and Mrs. Mildred Nelson, Florida; and Mrs. Florence Bowlby and Mrs. Mabel Adams, Detroit; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Services were held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. from the Beaverton Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Roger J. Browne officiated and burial was in the Beaverton Cemetery. The Hall Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
