Lau, 65, of Coleman, died Tuesday, March 16, 1999 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Gladwin after a long illness. Born March 13, 1934 in East Prussia, Germany, he lived in Gladwin County since 1972. and previously lived in Auburn. Karl married Loretta James, March 15, 1969 in Bay City. He was a pipefitter for Hubers in Midland, retiring in 1972. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Karl II of Coleman, and William of Chugiak, Ark.; three stepsons, Steven Woodman of Chugiak, Ark., Robert L. Woodman of Oklahoma, Okla., and Frank P. Woodman of Chicago, Ill.; one stepdaughter, Victoria Marie Asch of Lansing; two sisters, Rose Marie and husband Helmut Bruckner of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and Hannelore and husband Werner Jahn of Berlin, Germany; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Edenville with Rev. Father Todd Arnberg officiating. A scripture service was held at 7 p.m. Friday. Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton, was in charge of the arrangements.
