Born Aug. 18, 1921 in Beaverton, he was a lifetime resident of Gladwin County. John married the former Wanda Rise, Jan. 5, 1943 in Gladwin. He worked for Brown Machine, Beaverton in maintenance, retiring in 1983 after 23 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. Besides his wife, he is survived by two son, John and wife Ruth Ann of Edenville, and Jerry and wife Brenda of Beaverton; two daughters, Shelby and husband Tony Brubaker, and Diane Tuck, all of Beaverton; two sisters, Bernice Davis of Harrison, and Helen Rise of Cadillac; one brother, Richard of Gladwin; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Beaverton Cemetery in Beaverton with Rev. Mark Moore officiating. Burial will be in Beaverton Cemetery, Beaverton. The VFW Post #7303 will be in charge of the military rites.
