Dale was born Dec. 28, 1953, in Mt. Pleasant and had lived all his life in Gladwin County. He was a seventh grade student in the Beaverton Elementary School and a member of the Billings Sunday School. Surviving are his parents; two brothers, James and Timothy; a sister, Ann Marie; and grandparents, Mrs. Emma Mapes of Beaverton, and Mrs. Mary Stear of Sarasota, Fla. Services were held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Miner Chapel with the Rev. F. E. Voller and Rev. William Vroman officiating. Interment was in Dale Cemetery. The youngster received the fatal head injuries on Saturday, March 4, at Grayling when a log jumped in front of the toboggan on which he and several other boys from Beaverton were riding. Dale was taken to St. Mary's Hospital, Saginaw; where he underwent surgery that same day and again Tuesday morning. His companions on the toboggan apparently were not seriously hurt.
