Erma M. Mapes, 81, of 575 Dale Rd., Beaverton, died Sunday, Feb. 7, in the 
Midland Hospital Center. Born in Fulton County, Ohio, on March 7, 1900, she 
came to Michigan in 1914. She lived in Midland County until moving to Gladwin 
County in 1946. Mrs. Mapes was a member of Midland and the United Methodist 
Women. The former Erma Clark, she was married to John Mapes in Midland in 
1920. He preceded her in death in 1964.
   Surviving are one son, David of Beaverton; 3 sisters, Mrs. Matilda Clark, 
Mrs. Dora Hitsman and Mrs. Margaret Swift of Midland; 2 brothers, Ralph and 
John of Midland; 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Services, 
including the committal service, will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the 
Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas Hadley will officiate and burial will 
be in the Dale Cemetery.
