Malvin J. (Marty) Martinson, 64, of Beaverton, passed away Jan. 11, 1994, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw following a long illness. Born Dec. 13, 1929, in Iron River, Mr. Martinson was a resident of Saginaw until 1969 when he moved to Beaverton. While in Saginaw, Mr. Martinson was a painting contractor, and after moving to Beaverton, he was employed by the Beaverton Rural Schools as a bus driver. He retired in 1989. Mr. Martinson served in the Army Air Corp during the Korean Conflict. He is a member of the American Legion Post 171 in Gladwin County. He is also a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Edenville. Marty was also an avid bowler & golfer. He married the former Shirley J. Tyburski on June 26, 1965, in Saginaw. She survives along with foster family, Tom, Laura, John, Colleen, Carrie and James Rhule of Beaverton. Foster family, James, Deborah and Joseph Brushaber of Beaverton. Special grandson and family, Dan, Pam and Nathan Coe of Saginaw. Several nieces and nephews' two brothers, Alfred Martinson of Iron River and Arnie Martinson of Quincy, Mass.; and two sisters, Bergie Flaschburger of Hoyt Lakes, Minn. and Amanda Cole of Saginaw. Mr. Martinson is also survived by a son, daughter-in-law and grandson, Martin, Laurie, and Scott Martinson of Saginaw. Mr. Martinson was preceded in death by a son, Malvin Martinson; a daughter, Audrey Tyburski; and one brother, Odvin Martinson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Jan. 14, 1994, at 11 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Edenville. Burial will be in the Billings Township Cemetery, Beaverton. Mr. Martinson will lie in state at the church from 4-9 p.m. today from 9 a.m. until time of service on Friday. A Christian Wake Service will be recited at 8 p.m. today. The American Legion will conduct a graveside service. Arrangements are in charge of the Hall Funeral Homes, Gladwin and Beaverton. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
