He was employed as brake-man, and was riding on the tender when it left the rails. He jumped and attempted to mount a moving box car, but was caught between the car and the tender, and his left side crushed from the shoulder down, killing him instantly. He had been working for the same company winters for five years. His brother Ed, working 20 miles away, was notified, and accompanied the remains to their home at Beaverton, where funeral services were held Friday at the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. Austin. Deceased was 22 years of age, and had been a resident of this place a number of years. He was unmarried, and leaves a widowed mother, Mrs. Mary McDonald, who resides here, and two sisters and three brothers. He had a $1,000 policy in the K.O.T.M. He was held in high esteem by a large circle of friends.
