S. McKibbon died on the 15th inst. The remains were interred in the Tobacco cemetery. A large number of relatives and friends attended the funeral services conducted by Rev. E. H. Bradfield, of Gladwin. The late R. S. McKibbon was a man of cultivated intellect and good judgement. He came to this place about 12 years ago, bought a piece of wild land and hewed out a comfortable home which could only be accomplished by perserverance and hard toil. He was a soldier of the war of the rebellion and it was the hardships, fatigues and exposures of this terrible campaign that sowed the seeds of the disease which slowly but surely undermined his constitution and ended in an attack of total paralysis and caused his death in a few hours. It was not till he was so broke down by ill health that most of the time he was unable to work he applied for a pension and that was 28 years after the war and which it was granted. The remains were conveyed to their last resting place under old glory, the flag he fought to preserve, the usual honor paid to a soldier's funeral. All honor to his memory. Additional Comments: {Note: Surname most used is: McKibbin. Also find McKibbon. The S. above is a typo!}.
