Born Nov. 9, 1930 in Beaverton, he was the son of Clayton and Hazel (Smith) McKimmy of Beaverton. He was a lifetime resident of Gladwin County. He worked in machinery maintenance at Robinson Industry in Coleman, retiring in 1992 after 35 years. He also farmed and was a member of the Beaverton Church of the Brethren. Howard married the former Bonnie Dennison, Oct. 17, 1953 in Gladwin. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, David of Midland and Toby of Flint; two daughters, Ellen and husband Patrick Kent of DeWitt, and Teresa and husband Javian Coats of Gladwin; seven sisters, Alice Mayer and May Covey of California; Margaret Pietras of Shields, Iola Whitehead of Arizona, Helen Fry, June Havens, and Mildred King, all of Beaverton; one grandson, Lyle Noel Coats of Gladwin; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Muriel, and four brothers, Herbert, Ronald, John and Milford. Services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Brethren in Beaverton with Rev. Kenn Golay officiating. Burial was in Tobacco Township (Dale) Cemetery in Beaverton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Brethren building fund or Hospice of Gladwin County.
