Luther McKimmy, 85, retired Beaverton farmer and business man, passed away Tuesday at the Midland Hospital after an illness of two months. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 12 at 2:00 o'clock at the Beaverton Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Earl Atkinson and rev. Arthur Whisler officiating. The body will lie in state at the Paul McKimmy residence from 10 a.m. Thursday until 1:30 p.m. Friday. Born in Preston County, West Virginia, May 6 1871 Mr. McKimmy resided in Fulton County, Ohio where he married the former Agnes Boyce in 1892. He moved to Gladwin County in 1907 and has been an active and prominent resident. He was a county supervisor for three terms, superintendent and member of the poor commission for 12 years, director of the Peoples State Bank in Beaverton and director of the Federal Land Bank. He was the founder of the Beaverton Concrete Works and the Beaverton Construction Company. His wife preceded him in death in 1951. A daughter, Iva, and a son, Ora, are also deceased. Surviving Mr. McKimmy are three sons, Lester I., Ellis L., and Paul E., all of Beaverton; two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Witkovsky, of Coleman, and Mrs. Florence I. Rackel, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; three brothers, Theodore, Fred and Alvin; and two sisters, Mrs. Saloma Davis and Mrs. Addie Corbin; also 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
