McKimmy, 71, of Beaverton, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001 at home following a short illness. Born Feb. 10, 1930 in Detroit, he was the son of Ottamar and Francis (Rich) McKimmy. He lived in Gladwin County most of his life. Merle married Laura Spencer, Jan 3, 1953 in Beaverton. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked for Dow Corning in Midland as an operator, retiring in 1988 after 33 years. Merle was a life member of the National Rifle Association and North American Hunting Club; and member of the Beaverton Church of the Brethren. Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, David and wife Chari, and Robert and wife Susan, all of Beaverton, and Michael and wife Patricia of Cement City; one daughter, Valerie and husband Gregory Jacobs of Gladwin; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Doyle of Bridgeport and Donald of Bad Axe; three sisters. Delores Schnepp of Harrison, Rosalyn Richards of Gladwin, and Sharon Kalnbach of Saginaw; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Beaverton Church of the Brethren with Elder Donald Spencer and Pastor Ann Meyer officiating. Burial was in Tobacco Township (Dale) Cemetery in Beaverton. Memorials contributions may be made to the Mid-Michigan Visiting Nurse Association. Hall Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
