VERNON MERCER---Alta Mae Mercer died Wednesday morning, Dec. 11, at 3 o'clock at her home in Tobacco township, from pneumonia, following influenza. She was bron Aug. 31, 1894, and was married March 23, 1916, to Vern Mercer. She is survived by her husband and one son, William, aged 20 months. VERNON MERCER---Alta Mae Hull was born in Defiance county, Ohio, Aug. 31, 1895, and died at her home in Tobacco township Dec. 11, 1918, after a week's illness with influenza, which developed into pneumonia. She was married to Vernon C. Mercer March 23, 1916, at Jewell, Ohio. One son was born to them. In the summer of 1914 she was baptized and joined the Methodist church at Florida, Ohio, which still retains her membership. She was also a member of the Ancient Order of Gleaners, Goodyear arbor. During her short residence in Tobacco her quiet disposition won her many friends by whom she is held in high esteem. She leaves to mourn her husband and son; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Hull; three brothers, Al Hull of Winegar, Frank Hull and Ray Hull of Akron, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Zepha Hornish of North Manchester, Ind., Mrs. Myrtle Minsel of Roanoke, Ind., and Mrs. Mamie Cox of Beaverton, Mich.; besides a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held at the home Saturday morning, Dec. 14, at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Perry Arnold, followed by burial in Dale cemetery. Pallbearers were Clyde Walton, Perry Cowell, Vallie Knox, David Mote, Otis Cox and Clarence Glidden.
