Mercer, 65, well-known Tobacco Township man, died on Tuesday afternoon at the Clare General Hospital following an eight-day illness. He was born September 21, 1893 in Flushing and had been a resident of Gladwin County since 1894. Surviving are his wife Josie; two sons, William and James, of Beaverton; five daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Baldwin, of Bay City, Mrs. Dola Kleinhardt, of Clare, Mrs. Barbara Shreeve, of Beaverton, Mrs. Mary Ellen Brown and Mrs. Coralie Cassiday of Midland; three sisters, Mrs. Perry Cowell, of Clare, Mrs. Robert Brown, of Beaverton, and Mrs. Frank Turner, of Midland; and 19 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Beaverton Methodist Church. The Rev. Verne Summers will officiate and burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hall Funeral Home until 12:30 p.m. Friday and at the church until time of service.
