James H. Methner, 88, of 205 Tonkin St., Beaverton, died Sunday Dec. 10, 1989, 
in the Gladwin Area Hospital after a short illness. Born in West Virginia, 
Jan. 2, 1901, he moved to Gladwin County in 1932 from Coleman where he had 
lived since 1927. He owned several businesses in the area since 1932 including 
the Gem Theatre. Mr. Methner and the former Leona McKibbin, were married, June 
10, 1932, in Beaverton. She preceded him in death Feb. 4, 1979.
   Surviving is a step-son, Larry Tallmadge of Bellflower, Calif.; 2 sisters, 
Mrs. Violet Landon of Mt. Pleasant and Mrs. Virginia Hooper of Beaverton; and 
several nieces and nephews. Services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Hall 
Funeral Home, Beaverton Chapel. Elder Willard Pendleton officiated and burial 
was in the Tobacco Township Cemetery.
