Helen I. Methner, 87, of Midland, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001 at the Tender 
Care Nursing Home in Midland following a long illness. Born July 27, 1914 in 
Holly, she was the daughter of James and Della (Oliver) Cottrell. She lived in 
Midland County seven years and previously resided in Beaverton. Helen married 
Leon Methner, Jan. 19, 1935 in Beaverton. He preceded her in death in 1986. 
She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church, 
formerly the RLDS Church in Beaverton. 
   Surviving are one daughter, Carole Macklem of Midland; three sons, Hugh and 
friend Barbara Clark of Midland, Jerry of Sault Ste. Marie, and Wayne and wife 
Betty of Beaverton; one sister, Margaret Woodruff of Chicago, Ill., seven 
grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several 
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, 
Jerel Methner; and three sisters, June Sampson, Ola Mae Hildenbrand, and 
Marian Snyder-Kelley. Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Hall 
Funeral Home, Beaverton with Elder Jerry Methner officiating. Burial was in 
Beaverton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community of 
Christ Church.
