Miller, 74, were held at Woodland on Monday morning, March 15, and a prayer service at the Dale Methodist church in the afternoon, with the Rev. Donald Lee Roberts officiating. Burial was made in the Dale cemetery. Melvina E. Barnum was born near Woodland on August 31, 1879, the youngest daughter of John R. and Martha E. Shores Barnum. She was married to William M. Miller on December 14, 1902, at Beaverton, where they resided on a farm near Dale for 40 years. In 1942 they moved to Gladwin where Mr. Miller died on March 21, 1945. Before her marriage Mrs. Miller taught music in nearby communities from Woodland to Nashville, traveling by horse and buggy. After her marriage she taught piano at her home in Beaverton and also in Gladwin. Mrs. Miller passed away at a nursing home at Hastings on March 13. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Daisy Tyler; one brother, J. Leon Barnum; 13 nieces and nine nephews and a number of other relatives.
