RITES THURSDAY FOR HERMAN MITCHELL

   Herman L. Mitchell, 64, retired Beaverton grocer, died Monday at Goodrich 
following a short illness. Born in Rhodes on June 1, 189, he came to Gladwin 
County from Mills Township, Midland County, 18 years ago. He operated a 
grocery store in Beaverton 17 years before his retirement. He was married to 
the former Laura Gray on May 27, 1922, in Gladwin. 
   Survivors besides his wife, Laura, are one son, Richard, of Kankakee, Ill.; 
four daughters, Mrs. Joyce Hughs, of Goodrich, Ruth Ann, and Mrs. Margaret 
Broka, of Beaverton, and Mrs. Eleanor Breault, of Battle Creek; a brother, 
Oakley, of Saginaw; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Streeter, of Hope, and Mrs. Hanna 
Sirrine, of Midland; and nine grandchildren.
   Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Beaverton Methodist 
Church. The Rev. Gordon Showers will officiate and burial is in the Dale 
Cemetery.
