Mitchell, 69, of 2795 W. Knox Rd., Beaverton, died Saturday, March 7, 1992, at his home after a long illness. Born in Coleman on Oct. 27, 1922, he had spent his lifetime in the Coleman and Beaverton areas. Mr. Mitchell was an operator for Dow Chemical Co. in Chlorine Cells until he retired in 1981 after 39 years. He was a member of the Beaverton Church of God and served in the Army during World War II. Mr. Mitchell and the former Dolores Stickney were married May 31, 1952, in Flint. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, the Rev. Ronald of Christensburg, Va.; 3 daughters, Mrs. Michael (Marilyn) Cummings of Boyne City, Mrs. Gary (Joy) Robinson of Harrison and Mrs. Kal (Karen) Farrell of Traverse City; 3 sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Boulis of Litchfield, Mrs. Pearl Lennox of Clare and Mrs. Minnie Childs of Coleman; and 6 grandchildren. Rites were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the Beaverton Church of God with the Rev. Steven Hency officiating. Military graveside services were conducted by the Gladwin County VFW Post 7303 in the Beaverton Cemetery.
