James E. (Gene) Nettleton, 78, of Rhodes, died Friday, Dec. 1, 1989, in the 
Gladwin Pines Nursing Home after a long illness. Born in Rhodes, June 9, 1911, 
he had spent his lifetime there and was a dairy farmer. Mr. Nettleton was a 
retired employee of Magline and attended the Rhodes Community Church. Mr. 
Nettleton and the former Frankie Brumley were married Jan. 18, 1941, in Bay 
City. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Bud of New Baltimore; 4 
daughters, Mrs. Larry (Mary) Little of Rhodes, Mrs. Jerry (Ruth) Dittmar of 
Freeland, Mrs. Mike (Barbara) Shelson of Caro and Mrs. Douglas (Lorraine) 
Jackson of Midland; and 9 grandchildren. Rites were held Dec. 4, at 1 p.m. 
from the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home, Pinconning. Pastor Charles Green officiated 
and burial was in the Bentley Cemetery.
