The Rev. George Huggard, of Midland, officiated at the services from the Beaverton Methodist church and burial was made in the Beaverton cemetery. According to Sheriff Arthur Kelly, who investigated the accident the other occupants of the car were Oakley's wife, Anna; Laurence Priest, owner of the car; Clem Kelly a visitor at Beaverton; and Lilly Kirky, of Coleman. They told the sheriff that Oakley was driving the car when the mishap occurred, shortly after midnight between Gladwin and Beaverton. His companions, unable to give any reasons for his fall, said they were able to keep the car from going off the road and brought it under control. They brought Oakley to the Gladwin Hospital where he died at two o'clock. Oakley was born July 4, 1901, at New Haven Center in Gratiot county and had resided at Saginaw before moving to Beaverton. He married the former Anna Cripps in Toledo, Ohio, in April of 1941. He was a member of the Midland Eagles Aerie. Surviving are his widow, Anna; two daughters, Dorothy, 14, and Letha, seven; and two sons, Robert, 12 and Leo, nine, all at home; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanton Oakley, of Beaverton.
