Janice S. Owens, 39, of Beaverton, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997 at MidMichigan 
Regional Medical Center-Midland, following a battle with cancer. Born Jan. 8, 
1959 in Pontiac, she was the daughter of Harvey an Patricia Haas Mattoon. She 
lived in Gladwin County most of her life and was a member of St. Anne's 
Catholic Church in Edenville. Janice married Edward Owens, Aug. 18, 1990 in 
Edenville.
   Besides her husband she is survived by one stepson, Mark Owens of 
Beaverton; two stepdaughters, Halie Owens of Phoniex, Ariz., and Karah Owens 
of Gladwin; her mother, Patricia and husband Stanley Muma of Gladwin; in-laws, 
Lawrence and Joan Owens of Midland; one brother, Chris Mattoon of Clarkston; 
six sisters, Pam and husband Keith Shands, Sandy and husband Tom Bushong, 
Marilyn and husband Josh Reid, Darlene Muma, all of Gladwin, Denise Sherman of 
Beaverton, and Shelly Mattoon of Clarkston; one granddaughter, Brianna Ellis 
of Phoniex, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews. 
   Services were held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at St. Anne's Catholic 
Church in Edenville with Fr. Jim Bessert officiating. A scripture service was 
held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Sisson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to 
the Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund.
