She was born June 19, 1900 to Mary E. (Cosgrove) and Benjamin A. Wilbur in Fall River, Mass., where she grew up and graduated from Durfee High School. She was the daughter of Mary E (Cosgrove) and Benjamin A. Wilbur. During World War I, she worked as a secretary in Washington, D.C. After that, she moved to Dearborn and later married Oscar Paul, moving to New Bern, N.C. in 1921. After a few years in North Carolina, she returned to Dearborn where she made her home for the next 35 years. Grandma worked at the Book Cadillac Hotel and was active in the community and Littlefield Presbyterian Church, while raising four children. She was a member of Albright Shores Eagles Aerie 3655. After her husband retired from Cadillac Motor, they moved to Harbour Heights, Fla., where she was active in the Women’s Club, Garden Club, and the Republican Women’s Club as recently as 1999. She also played the piano and organ and led the choir in the Harbour Heights Methodist Church until 1990. Her summers were spent in Hope, surrounded by family and friends. Her pastimes included playing her piano, playing cards, and sewing clothes for herself, her children, and grandchildren. She took many classes well into her 80s and was an avid promoter of the power of education. Grandma loved to travel and spent much of her retirement traveling to various parts of the world. She was a remarkable woman and was a cancer survivor of more than 23 years. Theodora’s legacy of faith, kindness, generosity, ad love will live on for many generations to come. She was loved by everyone and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Surviving are one daughter, Patricia (Ben) McAteer of Hope, two sons, Alfred (Barb) of Allbright Shores, Wilbur (Jean) of Lake City, Fla.; one daughter-in- law, Ruth Paul of Westland; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Beatrice Gudith; her husband, Oscar; and daughter and son-in-law, Alice and Ray Delman. Services were held Monday, Oct. 22 at Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton with Rev. Father Todd Arnberg officiating. Burial was in Billings Township cemetery, Beaverton. Memorials may be made to MidMichigan Hospice or the donor’s favorite charity.
