J. PAXTON DIES HERE FEB. 16TH L. J. Paxton passed away at his home Thursday night, February 16, at the age of 82 years, two months, and 28 days. He had been bedfast for 14 months. He was born in Hocking Co., Ohio, and several years later moved to Van Wert, Ohio. He with his family, came to Beaverton thirty-six years ago. Services were held at the David Ross home Sunday, February 18, at 2 o'clock with Rev. Henry Kruelen of Bay City officiating. The Rev. and Mrs. Harold Hodgson sang "Lily of the Valley" and "Abide With Me" accompanied by Mrs. D. H. Swengel. The grandsons were active and honorary pall-bearers. Burial was in the Dale Cemetery. Surviving are the widow, Ida J. Springer Paxton; five sons, Homer of St. Johns, D. M. of Gladwin, C. W. of Beaverton, Dewey and Russell of Clare; two daughters, Leona Busick of Grover Hill, Ohio, and Mary Ross of Beaverton; 32 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Those here from out of town to attend the funeral services were E. F. Paxton and Mr. and Mrs. Herb Price, of Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. L. Crampton and Mrs. H. J. Paxton of St. Johns; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Holland, of Ovid; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Paxton, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Knight, and Mr. and Mrs. L. Knight, of Flint; Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord Paxton of Coleman; Mr. and Mrs. Meredith Ross, of Keego Harbor; L. J. Ross, of Vicksburg; Leona Busick, of Grover Hill, Ohio; and Al Thompson, of Saginaw.
