LESTER RANES

   Lester J. Ranes, 87, of Beaverton, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, in the Clare 
Osteopathic Hospital after a short illness. Born in Paulding County, Ohio, on 
Jan. 24, 188, he had lived in Gladwin County since 1900. Mr. Ranes was a 
retired maintenance man at Dow Chemical Co. He was married to the former Lilly 
Page on Jan. 5, 1914, in Beaverton.
   Besides his wife, he is survived by eight sons, Arthur and Lawrence of West 
Branch, Fred, Denton, Maurice, Ralph, Keith and Evert of Beaverton; three 
daughters, Mrs. Leola Hathaway of Midland, Mrs. Doris Gilmour of Sanford and 
Velma Ranes.
   Services were held Saturday at 1 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home in 
Beaverton. The Rev. Mark Moore officiated and burial was in the Beaverton 
Cemetery.
