MRS. RAU SUCCUMBS AFTER LONG ILLNESS

   Mrs. Alice E. Rau, 90, of Beaverton, died on Tuesday, Dec. 10, after an 
illness of many years. She was born on Jan. 10, 1867, in Wood County, Ohio, 
and had lived in Gladwin county 46 years. The former Miss Alice E. Lindower 
was married to Henry Rau on Feb. 11, 1893, in Carey, Ohio. They would have 
celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in February.
   Surviving are her husband, Henry, of Beaverton; two sons, George H., of 
Gladwin, and Earl E., of Beaverton; six daughters, Elma, Mrs. Clarence 
Carpenter and Mrs. Grace M. Ward, of Beaverton, Mrs. Perley L. Arnold, of 
Albion, Mrs. Ray Lamphierd and Mrs. Pearl Ward, of Midland; one sister, Mrs. 
C. A. Chambers, of Findlay, Ohio; two brothers, F. B. Lindower, of Uniontown, 
Ohio, and S. Earl Lindower, of Toledo.
   Funeral services will be on Friday, Dec. 13, with a prayer service at 12:30 
at home and at the Church of the Brethren at 2 p.m. Rev. Carl Hilbert and Rev. 
Arthur Whisler will officiate. Burial will be in Dale cemetery. Friends may 
call at the Rau home from 4 p.m. Wednesday until 12 o'clock Friday and from 1 
p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Church of the Brethren.
