Rau, 90, of 3870 Pratt Lake Rd., Gladwin, and formerly of Beaverton, died Monday, Sept. 22, in the Gladwin Nursing Home after a long illness. Born in Putman County, Ohio, Sept. 13, 1896, she came to Gladwin County in March 1912. Miss Rau was a member of the Beaverton Church of the Brethren. She attended Bethany Bible School in Chicago and in November 1930 was licensed to the Christian ministry by her home church. Miss Rau spent many years in evangelistic work and Christian education conducting Vacation Bible Schools in Michigan, and Indiana. She was also the Beaverton correspondent for the Gladwin County Record for many years. Surviving are 4 sisters, Grace Ward of Gladwin, Vida Arnold of Holland, Fay Lamphierd of Grand Rapids and Alice Ward fo Midland. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Earl and George, and a sister, Mary. Services willl be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Beaverton Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Michael Clark will officiate and burial will be in the Dale Cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of the Sisson-Mathews Funeral Home.
