When but two years old she was left an orphan, and at the age of 10 years she moved from Virginia to Ohio. When 18 years of age she united with the Baptist church of which she remained a member until her death. At the age of 19 years she was married to James Ray. To this happy union were born 10 children, six of whom survive. Four preceded her in death. Twenty-nine years ago with her family she moved from Ohio to Beaverton, Michigan, where they have resided since. Her husband departed this life March 16, 1926. Since that time she has made her home with her children. Surviving are Mrs. Logan Ackley, Mrs. Claud Smith, Mrs. Garfield Freeman, and Ed Ray of Beaverton; Mrs. Daniel Robinson of Saginaw and Harry Ray of Midland, 26 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Church of the Brethren, Friday, Dec. 16, at 2 o'clock. Rev. Perry R. Hoover officiated and the music was furnished by singers from the church. Interment in the Dale cemetery.
