He was born Aug. 14, 1919 to Wilson Hayes and Zenia (King) Richardson at Woodburn, Ind. Deloss was a mechanic with Brown Machine in Beaverton until his retirement in 1981 after 16 years of employment there. He lived in Gladwin County since 1975, having previously been a resident of Beaverton. Deloss was proud to have led the First Battery of the 82nd Airborne Glider Division in 1942, and also was proud to be the First Sergeant in many Major Glider campaigns during WWII. Deloss was a Life Member and Past Commander of V.F.W. Post 730. He was also the first President of the Gladwin County Credit Union. He was married on Nov. 24, 1949 in Beaverton to Jessie (Shivel) Richardson, who preceded him in death in 2000. He is survived by daughter Juanita Simon of Beaverton; sons Otis (Janet) Whitehouse of Beaverton, William (Rosemarie) Whitehouse of Beaverton, Edward (Pat) Whitehouse of Beaverton, Larry (Denise) Richardson of Coleman, Jerry (Jo) Richardson of Coleman and Jim (Vicki) Richardson of Coleman; 28 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren; brothers Earl Richardson of New Foundland, Canada and Jack Richardson of Midland; sisters Ella Cerva of Midland, Fleeta Eickoff of Grand Ledge, Nettie Miller of Arizona, and Ila Adams of California; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by is parents; sons John and Robert Whitehouse; four brothers; and two sisters. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Hall Funeral Home in Beaverton. Rev. Henry List officiated. Burial took place in Beaverton Cemetery. Military honors were preformed by V.F.W. Post 7303. Memorial contributions may be made to V.F.W. Post 7303.
