SURVIVOR OF WEEK IN WOODS DIES

   Funeral services for Mrs. Mary A. Roberts, 87, were held on Sunday 
afternoon from the Beaverton Methodist church. The Rev. Donald Sailor 
officiated and burial was made in the Dale cemetery. Mrs. Roberts was born on 
February 4, 1864, in Montcalm county and had lived near Beaverton for the past 
22 years. Last fall she survived a 6-day stay in the woods near her home when 
she became lost while gathering berries. She passed away on Friday, April 20, 
after a three-weeks illness. 
   Surviving are one son, Leslie Roberts, of Gladwin; two daughters, Mrs. Anna 
Dewyer and Mrs. Jennie Bush, both of Ludington; 20 grandchildren and 31 great-
grandchildren.
