Viola J. "Babe" Roberts, 71, of Beaverton, died suddenly Friday, Aug. 17, 2001 
at home. Born Aug. 26, 1929 in Beaverton, she was the daughter of Phillip and 
Bertha (Rise) Crockett. She was a lifetime resident of Gladwin County. Babe 
married Carl (Rich) Roberts, Oct. 6, 1951 in Beaverton. He preceded her in 
death in 1999. She was a cook with the Beaverton Community Schools, retiring 
in 1975 after 10 years.
   Surviving are two sons, James Carl and wife Patricia of Midland, and Jerry 
and wife Beth of Okemos; one daughter, Vicki and husband B.J. Higgins of Big 
Rapids; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Floyd Crockett of Hope and Roger 
Crockett of Beaverton; and several nieces and nephews. 
   Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton with 
Rev. Henry List officiating. Burial was in Tobacco Township (Dale) Cemetery in 
Beaverton. Memorial contributions may be made to be used according to the 
wishes of the family.
