Gladwin County Record
Velma L. Scheele, age 94, of Beaverton died April 24, 2004 at Gladwin Living 
Centre. She was born Nov. 12, 1909 in Beaverton to Braddock and Alberta 
(Johnson) Russell. She lived in Gladwin County her whole life and was a home 
maker. She attended Our Savior Lutheran Church in Gladwin. She married Ernest 
Scheele on Sept. 27, 1930 in Oberlin. He died in 1972. 
Surviving are her son Herbert (Angela) Scheele of Henderson, Tenn.; daughters 
Verna (Lewis) Richmond of Beaverton, and Delores Spitler of Clare; eight 
grandchildren, eleven Great grandchildren and one Great great grandchild; and 
several nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her husband; sisters Gladys 
Dangler, Rachel Anderson, and Beatrice Longstreth; brothers Carl, Harry and 
Harold; and Great grandson Matthew Richmond. 
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 27 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in 
Gladwin, with pastor Timothy Verity officiating. Burial took place at Tobacco 
Township (Dale) Cemetery in Beaverton. Arrangments were by Hall Funeral Home 
in Beaverton.
