B. F. Wade. Burial was at the Dale cemetery. Mr. Shaffer died at the home of his son, John Shaffer, in Tobacco township, and was in his 90's. RESIDENT SINCE 1903 PASSES Henry Fisner Shaffer, a resident of Tobacco township since 1903, died at the John Shaffer home at Knoxville June 5 after an illness of nearly four weeks. He was born January 19, 1847, at Selmsgrove, Pennslyvania. At 21 he came to Elkhart, Indiana, where he worked in the shop of the Lake Shore Railway Co. Here he was marrried to Barbara Shelterly December 8, 1872. In 1888 they came to Allegan county. After coming to Gladwin they located on a farm at Dundas corners. He was a consistent member of the German Lutheran church. His daughter Mary died at Elkhart, Ind., when four years old, a son, Justy, in 1927; and Mrs. Shaffer, in December 15, 1921. Surviving him are three sons, D. P. Shaffer of Battle Creek, Faris Shaffer of Holland and John Shaffer of Beaverton, 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Services were held June 7 at the Dale Methodist Episcopal church, conducted by Rev. B. F. Wade of the Beaverton church. Burial was at the Dale cemetery. Attending the funeral from away were: Peter Shaffer of Battle Creek, Mr. and Mrs. Farn Shaffer and Mrs. Beck and son of Holland; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Shaffer and Shirley Ann, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shaffer, Mr. and Mrs. John Fields, son, Donnie Shaffer, Donald Shaffer, James Shaffer and Gertrude Shaffer of Detroit.
