He was born at Elkhart, Ind., July 9, 1887, and came to this county with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry F. Shaffer, in 1888, who located in Tobacco township. He was married to Helen Marie Myers, November 12, 1919. He was a farmer by occupation until his health failed. He was a member of the church and the I.O.O.F. Services were held at the Dale church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. A. J. Preston officiating. Burial took place at Dale cemetery. The pallbearers were Eric Reymore, Lawrence Hughes, Clarence Scoby, Ira Brand, Herbert French and Welcome Snyder. He is survived by his wife, his father, Henry F. Shaffer, three brothers, Ferris at Holland, Peter at Battle Creek, and John of Beaverton. His sister Mary preceded him in death.
