Born in Defiance, Ohio, on Nov. 18, 1882, he was married to the former Bertha Andrist on May 8, 1904, in Ohio. Mrs. Shock died on Sept. 19, 1957. The Shocks came to Gladwin County from Defiance in 1911. He spent form 1926 to 1946 in Flint where he was employed at the Buick Motor Car Co., and moved back to Beaverton in 1946. He was a member of the Beaverton Church of God. Surviving are two sons, Bernard and Wayne, of Flint; a daughter, Mrs. Erma Willette of Flint; six sisters, Mrs. Florence Wells, Mrs. Vera Brubaker and Mrs. Susan Woodcock, of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Mrs. Minnie Silar of Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Zepha Healy of Leipsic, Ohio, and Mrs. Ruth Crosland of Defiance, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Beaverton Church of God with the Rev. Raymond Brokaw officiating. Burial was in the Beaverton Cemetery.
