JERRY SMART

   Jerry E. Smart, 45, of 3286 Robertson Dr., Beaverton, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 
in the University of Michigan Hospital after a brief illness. Born in 
Jefferson, Mo. Nov. 12, 1940, he came to Gladwin County in 1974 from Midland. 
He was employed by Saginaw Steering Gear and served in the Army. Mr. Smart and 
the former Beverly Frasher were married Aug. 31, 1974, in Midland.
   Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters, Lori, stationed in Germany 
and Angela at home: one son, Scott of Midland; his parents, Ernest and Myrtle 
Smart; 4 step-children, Troy, Rhonda, Kevin and Keith Frasher of Beaverton; 
one sister, Carolyn Engel of Midland; and 2 grandchildren.
   Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Beaverton Presbyterian 
Church. The Rev. John McDowell will officiate and burial will be in the 
Beaverton Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the Sisson-Mathews Funeral 
Home.
