SUCCUMBS AFTER LONG ILLNESS

   Funeral services will be held for Elmer Smith, 52, Thursday afternoon at 
2:00 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Home in Gladwin with the Rev. Larry Grubaugh 
officiating. The son of the late Claude and Celia Smith, he was born April 28, 
1903 in Gladwin County and spent his entire life here. Mr. Smith who has been 
ill for the past five years passed away at the Farwell Nursing Home. His 
survivors include four brothers, Ivan of Estey, Floyd and Guy of Beaverton and 
James of San Francisco, Calif. Interment will be made in the Dale cemetery.
