Michael L. Smith, 6, of 417 S. Ross St., Beaverton, died Tuesday, July 3, 
1990, at his home after fighting leukemia for 5 years. Born in Lansing, Sept. 
12, 1983, he had spent his lifetime in Gladwin County. Michael was a member of 
the Skeels Baptist Church and attended the Skeels Northern Christian School. 
He was also a member of the Cedar River Riding Club.
   Surviving are his parents, Susan (Balzer) Smith of Beaverton and Russell 
Smith of Gladwin; grandparents, Ray Balzer and Russell and Joyce Smith of 
Gladwin; great grandparents, Mary Jane and Bill Butcher of Gladwin and Wayne 
and Emily Trebes of Ill.; and many aunts and uncles.
   Services were held Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Sissons-Mathews Funeral 
Home. Pastor Bryan Johnson officiated and burial was in the Tobacco Township 
Cemetery.
