PHILANDER SMITH 

   Philander Smith died April 10, 1928, at Farmington, Mich. He was born Sept. 
2, 1842, at Hamilton, Ontario, and was married to Miss Mary Thompson of 
Melvin, Mich., in 1874. To this union were born five children, Charles Smith 
of Farmington, Mich., Mrs. George Cooper of Beaverton, Mrs. J. A. Benmark of 
Clio, Mich., Mrs. R. T. Cowan of Gladwin, and Amy Smith who preceded him in 
death a number of years ago. He was a member of the L.D.S. church. Funeral was 
held at Beaverton with burial in the Beaverton cemetery.
