THELMA SMITH

   Thelma Smith, 72, of 314 Center St., Beaverton, died Monday, March 19, in 
the Midland Hospital Center after a long illness. Born in Paducah, Ky., on 
December 8, 1911, she came to Gladwin County 3 years ago from Traverse City. 
The former Thelma Woods, she was married to Cyrene Smith on July 8, 1960, in 
Traverse City. He preceded her in death February 23.
   Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Acia (Lula) Brown of Beaverton; 4 step-
children, Larry of Traverse City, Cyrene of Monroe, Lee of Lansing and Mrs. 
Mary Keech of Livonia; and one sister, Mrs. Artie George of Centralia, Ill. 
Rites will be held Friday at 10 a.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton 
Chapel. Nelson Swinehart will officiate and burial will be in the Beaverton 
Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home after 7 p.m. tonight, 
Wednesday.
