Ivan F. Smith, 85, 3900 Pinconning Road, died Friday, Aug. 30, 1985. A 
lifelong resident of Rhodes, Smith was born Sept. 28, 1899, in Gladwin County. 
He attended Gladwin County schools and married the former Ethel E. Moore on 
April 5, 1924, in Midland. Smith was
a retired farmer in the Rhodes area.  He leaves his wife; sons, Ivan L. Smith, 
Millard
Smith, Merle Smith, Earl Smith and James Smith, all of Gladwin County; 
daughters, Viola Smith of Gladwin County, and Margie Valley and Thelma Cole of 
Midland County; brother James Smith of Hayden Lake, Idaho; 33 grandchildren; 
and 35 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Margaret Smith, preceded him in death 
in 1978. Four brothers also preceded him in death.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Ware-Smith-Woolever & Co. Funeral Home, 
with the Rev.
Timothy Holcomb-Dinsmore of the Bethel Church of the Nazerene officiating. 
Burial will be in the Billings Township Cemetery in Gladwin County. Friends 
may call at the funeral home from 3 to 9 p.m. on Monday, and Tuesday from 9 
a.m. until the time of the service.  Family members will be present Monday 
from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorials are available for the donor's 
favorite charity.
