Bertha B. Spencer, 83, of Gladwin, died Wednesday, June 25, 1997 at the 
Gladwin Nursing Home following a long illness. The former Bertha Lake was born 
Sept. 2, 1913 in Beaverton and lived in Oakland County until moving to Gladwin 
in 1972. She married  Otis Spencer June 25, 1932, became a home maker, and was 
a member of the R.L.D.S. church in Gladwin. Mrs. Spencer was preceded in death 
by her husband (Dec. 25, 1993), three sisters, one brother, and one grandson.
   She is survived by three daughters Laura and husband Merle McKimmy of 
Beaverton; Lena Emond of Windsor, Ont.; Mildred and husband Morris Millen of 
Oxford; two sons Donald and  wife Brenda of Oxford; and James of Gladwin; 16 
grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
   Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at Hall Funeral Home in 
Gladwin. Elder Donald Spencer will officiate with burial in Tobacco Township 
(Dale) Cemetery in Beaverton. Those planning an expression of sympathy may 
wish to consider memorials to MidMichigan Hospice.
