Spencer, 84, of 601 N. Arcade St., Gladwin, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1993, in the Gladwin Pines Nursing Home after a long illness. He was born in Gilford on Nov. 12, 1909, and moved to Gladwin County in 1972, from Lakeville. Mr. Spencer retired in 1972 after 25 years as a mechanic welder for National Twist Drill Co. in Rochester. He was a deacon at the Gladwin R.L.D.S. Church. Mr. Spencer and the former Bertha Lake were married June 25, 1932, in Beaverton. Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Donald of Oxford and James of Gladwin; 3 daughters, Mrs. Merle (Laura) McKimmy of Beaverton, Mrs. Lena Emond of Windsor, Ont. and Mrs. Morris (Mildred) Millen of Oxford; several half brothers and sisters; 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Spencer as an infant and a grandson, Rodney Millen in 1984. Services were held today, Wednesday, at 2 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel. Elder Donald Spencer officiated and burial was in the Tobacco Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Multiple Sclerosis.
