Sterling, 60, of Billings township, was killed instantly on Tuesday, October 13, when he became entangled in the tile ditching machine which he and his son were operating on the Siepke farm, five miles east of Alma. Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon, at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Sidney S. Rood, of the Houghton Lake Episcopal church. The Rev. Sidney S. Mr. Sterling may be seen at the Hall Funeral Home after 8 o'clock this evening and will be taken to the home in Billings on Thursday afternoon. Mr. Sterling was born in Blenheim, Ontario, Canada, on October 13, 1893, and spent practically his life-time in Billings township. On December 25, 1912, he married Miss Vella Euper in Beaverton. Surviving are his wife, Vella; one son, Richard, of Billings; two daughters, Mrs. Bernard Cerva and Mrs. Gordon Gingrich, both of Midland; his mother, Mrs. Anna Sterling, of Billings; three brothers, Percy and Kenneth, of Hope, and Homer of Davison; one sister, Mrs. Frank Broadworth, of Fairgrove; also nine grandchildren. His father and a sister preceded him in death. Pallbearers will be Earl Colbeck, Harley Quillett, Shirley Brown, Claude Kent, Mike Kent and Frank White.
