COUNTY PIONEER DIES TUESDAY

   Samuel L. Stockton, 86, of Beaverton, died at Clare General Hospital on 
Tuesday after a six day illness. Born in Sanilac County on Sept. 12, 1876, he 
had lived in Gladwin County 80 years. He was married to the former Margaret 
McCracken in Gladwin on Oct. 12, 1903, and she preceded him in death on May 
13, 1952.
   Surviving are five sons, Raph, of Bay City, Rex, of Milton, Fla., Delmer, 
of Mt. Morris, Kenneth, of Roscommon, and Gordon, of Beaverton; two daughters, 
Mary of Beaverton, and Mrs. Guy McGowen, of Swartz Creek; eight grandchildren 
and five great grandchildren.
   Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Home 
with the Rev. Gordon Showers officiating. Burial will be in the Beaverton 
Cemetery.
