Gladwin County Record
Joyce Suffel, 74, of Beaverton, passed away Jan. 9, 2004 at MidMichigan 
Medical Center, Midland. She was born April 24, 1929 to Earl and Josephine 
(Valincourt) Lagness in Midland. She married Earl Suffel on May 24, 1952 in 
Flint. He predeceased her in 1998. She worked as a waitress at Higgins 
Restaurant. She was a resident for 18 years, coming from Flint. She belonged 
to V.I.G.O.R., Beaverton. 
She is survived by her daughters: Debora (Jeffrey) Jolly of Flint and Gail 
Kline of Beaverton; Son, Thomas (Thelma) Suffel of San Diego, California; 
Seven grandchildren; Five Great-grandchildren; Sisters: Margaret Knack of 
Millington, Emma Shroder of Wisconsin, Elizabeth Peters of Washington and 
Beverly Morrison of North Carolina; Brothers: Robert Lagness of California, 
Earl Lagness Jr. of Michigan, and Gerald Lagness of Herron. 
She was predeceased by her parents, brother, William; and sisters Irene Wilson 
and Geraldine Stevenson. Funeral Services will be Jan. 14 at 11 a.m. at Hall 
Funeral Home, Gladwin. A burial will follow at Arbutus Cemetery in Beaverton.
