Joseph C. Wallis, 94, of Gladwin, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997 at Bortz Nursing 
Home in West Branch after a long illness. Born Nov. 14, 1903 in Madron, 
England, he lived in Gladwin since 1964 and previously lived in Flint. Joseph 
married the former Elizabeth James, May 13, 1933 in Flint. He had been 
employed by Chevrolet Manufacturing in Flint as a foreman in the material 
department, retiring in 1964 after 39 years.
   Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Beth J. and husband Gerald 
Wolpert of Gladwin; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter. He was 
preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. Services were held at 1 
p.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel, with Pastor David Penniman 
officiaiting. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider 
memorials to Dale Methodist Church building fund.
