GEORGE WELKER

   George J. Welker, 79, of Beavertn, died Friday, April 28, at the Gladwin 
Area Hospital following a long illness. He was born in Gladwin County March 
22, 1893, and had lived in Flint 37 years where he was employed at Buick Motor 
Company. He returned to Beaverton eight years ago, upon retirement, to make 
his home. His wife, the former Florence Tripp, preceded him in death.
   Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Christine Jenkins of Beaverton and Mrs. Ann 
Grandy of Detroit, two brothers, Chris of Beaverton, and Frank of Clare. 
Services were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Home in Beaverton, 
with the Rev. Roger J. Browne officiating. Burial was in the Beaverton 
Cemetery.
