S. WHITMER Joshua S. Whitmer, 90, died at his home in Tobacco township on Saturday June 8. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, at the Beaverton Brethren church, at 2 p.m. preceded by a short Prayer Service at the home at 1:30 p..m. Rev. E. S. Hollinger, pastor of the Brethren church officiated. Burial was in the Dale cemetery. Mr. Whitmer was born in Miami county, Ohio, on February 17, 1856, coming to Tobacco township to live on a farm 45 years ago. He was one of the founders of the Beaverton Brethren church helping in the building of the structure now used for worship. Surviving are two sons, Edgar and John Whitmer, both of Midland; and one daughter, Mrs. Martha Farrell, of Woodland. Mrs. Whitmer preceded her husband in death on June 8, 1917. Mr. Whitmer was also preceded in death by a son, Ray.
