Willson, 68, of Beaverton and formerly of Saginaw, died Tuesday, June 25, 1996 at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw. Born March 7, 1928 in Saginaw, he moved to Gladwin County in 1977. Mr. Willson worked as a food broker for UBC Marketing. He owned and operated the Double L Marina from 1977 to 1980 and Winegars Trading Post form 1980 to 1987. Mr. Willson was the Hay Township supervisor form 1983 to 1992. He was a member of the Gladwin Masonic Temple No. 397 F&AM and was named Mason of the Year in 1995. He was also a Shriner and a member of the Gladwin Eagles No. 3292. Mr. Willson was a member of the Wooden Shoe United Methodist Church and the Gladwin Area VFW Post 11256. He was post commander of the American Legion Post 0192 in Temperance, a member of the Eastern Star White Clover Chapter No. 84 and he also played one year for the Brooklyn Dodgers after high school. Mr. Willson married the former Patricia Peterman June 15, 1951 in Farmington, N.M. Services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday from the Sisson Funeral Home in Gladwin. The Rev. Donald Haskell officiated and burial was in the Arbutus Cemetery. Graveside services were under the auspices of the Gladwin Area VFW Post 11256. A Masonic service was held at 7:30 p.m. last Wednesday at the funeral home by the Masons of Masonic Lodge No. 397 F&AM, where Robert was a member. Memorials may be made to the Masonic Lodge No. 397 Contingency Fund or the Wooden Shoe United Methodist Church.
