Mrs. Wirt was born Oct. 3, 1901 at Geneva, Ind., She was married to Glenn M. Wirt Aug. 31, 1919 in Beaverton and had lived near there since her marriage. Surviving are her husband, Glenn; two sons, the Rev. Charles G. Wirt of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Henry D. Wirt of Evart; five daughters, Mrs. Daisy Letts, Midland, Mrs. Viola Hintz, Midland, Mrs. Violet Bishop, Beaverton, Mrs. Margaret Bishop, Lansing, and Mrs. Glenna J. Hayward, Gladwin; 21 grandchildren; four brothers and three sisters. One son, Francis, preceded her in death. The services were held at the Hall Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Her son, the Rev. Charles G. Wirt, and the Rev. Truman Lowell officiated and the pallbearers were the sons and sons-in-law. Burial was in Dale cemetery. Sheriff Lorin Leitner said Mrs. Wirt had gone fishing Sunday with her husband. They live on a farm five miles west of Beaverton, near Bard. Mrs. Wirt rented a boat and went fishing alone, while Mr. Wirt remained on the M-18 bridge across the river. Cecil McKellar, Beaverton druggist, reported seeing Mrs. Wirt fishing from the boat when he went up the river. He noted the empty craft, still anchored, about a half-hour later when he returned. Three girls in a motorboat also saw Mrs. Wirt when they went up the river and noticed it was empty on their way back. Mr. Wirt said he had not seen his wife since she left him to rent the boat and the sheriff was notifield and dragging operations were started immediately. Six boats searched the waters of the lake, some 20 feet deep at that point, until midnight. The search was resumed Monday morning with Dick and Kenneth Fassett, Beaverton skin divers, assisting the officers. The body was found close to the shore about 10 a.m. by Dick Fassett and Deputy Sherifff Darrel Wood, of Beaverton.
